3Work, but there are better alternativesJan 30, 2011

I bought this set because I thought it would be a good introductory pack to cloth diapering, which it is. The diapers are very absorbent (use diaper detergent), and the covers have not leaked on us. So overall, it was not wasted money.

This set only contains enough diapers for 1 day of newborn diaper changes (if you're lucky). You'd need to get two or three sets just to avoid doing laundry daily. Well, really you need 2-3 sets worth of prefold diapers, and could get by with fewer covers.

I just wish that I had realized that I could buy all the components of this set cheaper elsewhere:

Thanksmama.com Prices:
White Indian Cotton Prefolds - Infant 4x8x4 $21/dozen
Prorap Classic Diaper Covers - Newborn - White $6.99 each
Bio-Soft Liners - Small (5x12 inches) $6.29
Total <$50 for the same quantities of this set

I bought the items listed above and the prefold diapers are EXACTLY like the ones in this set, and my husband and I actually prefer the prorap covers (they dip for the umbilical cord stump). Also, breastmilk poo can go straight into the washer, no liner needed.

5Good value, very absorbentApr 14, 2012

We bought the newborn essentials pack for our baby. We're very happy with it. This package is just enough for one day of diapering for us. We need to wash every day, but we're fine with that. We've tried both GroVia and Thirsties all in ones, and Real Nappies are more absorbent. My husband prefers these over disposables, and cloth all in one diapers. They're easy to clean and use. The only downside to these (which also applies to any pre-fold and cover system) is that they are bulky, but that's not stopping us from buying the next size up, which we will do when our daughter is a little older.

5Great product, great valueAug 05, 2011

I was on the fence about trying cloth diapers. I'm so glad I tried these. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and many of the other brands are very expensive. This system works well and is easy to use. We use half cloth and half paper diapers. This system definetly paid for itself and has saved us money.

3Still figuring these outApr 14, 2011

Was so excited to start using cloth diapers and loved the positive reviews about Real Nappies but I am still working on perfecting the use of this product. I am not giving up though-just ordered more inserts and covers so that I can change my little girl more often. At 16 months, I would typically go through 3-4 disposables/24hrs (I use Earth's Best). With the Real Nappies, I change her 6-8 times/24hrs.
