The fine-spun soft merino fabric is comfortably lightweight yet provides superior warmth-to-weight insulation and will keep your newborn baby much warmer than cotton. Merino also breathes exceptionally well and, unlike polyester, it readily absorbs and releases moisture to keep your baby warm without overheating. The air temperature in a nursery can fluctuate and a newborn baby often wakes either too hot or too cold because it takes time for their body to develop the full capability to regulate its temperature. Merino fabric has the remarkable natural ability to absorb and release moisture, to cool or warm your baby's body, regulating their body temperature to compensate for changes in room temperature. The Cocooi Newborn Gown is ideal in any season because of this temperature-regulating capability. Cocooi Newborn Gown design features include: - Cross-over neckline so fabric stays clear of baby's face when they twist and turn
- Pouch design keeps baby's feet covered and warm - no need for socks or booties
- Elastic pouch makes it easy to dress baby and change diaper. No fiddly buttons, ties or domes
- Safety mittens fold over to protect baby from scratching.
Made entirely of natural fiber, the Cocooi Newborn Gown is safe to use for babies with allergies, eczema and sensitive skin. Merino is naturally fire resistant and the Cocooi Newborn Gown is rated low fire risk. It has not been treated with the fireproofing chemicals commonly applied to polyester which can irritate baby skin. Machine washable. Quick drying. Can be tumble-dried. The Cocooi Newborn Gown is perfect for layering under the Cocooi Newborn Sleep Bag and Cocooi Babywrap. Depending on your baby and surroundings, use the gown on its own, the gown inside the sleep sack or the gown under the swaddle. | | | Features: | |

Cocooi Newborn Baby GownSep 14, 2010

Mmm... it's kind of thin, not terribly thin but thin enough to notice, not sure if that's good or bad for you, but it will be a little too thin for my March baby. There are 3 and a half rough itchy tags in the inside that will be rubbing against your baby's skin. I don't like having to cut them off because I always get too close to the fabric and cause some kind of hole. And if you don't cut close enough there will still be some of the hard tag there scratching your baby. One of the tags CANNOT be removed without damaging the fabric, and that is hard and plasticy and it will be rubbing right on the back of your baby's little neck. (That's really bugging me).
I was SO looking forward to receiving this gown, I'm not disappointed (probably because I didn't pay for it, I put it on my baby registry) but I'm not thrilled about it either. The gown is very long, and the sleeves are about an inch shorter than the gerber gowns. It's pretty cute, it's a little more of a cream/natural color than what is shown in the picture. Now that I have the gown I can say that it isn't worth spending $50 on, maybe $35... but it's a great thing to put on your baby registry for someone else to pay for.
Any questions? Feel free to ask!

Merino Kids Cocooi Gown is a must buy!Aug 05, 2009

Our four week old son lives in this gown! We have tried cotton, kimono, poly blend and short sleeve styles, but this is by far the best gown we own. The fabric keeps our baby warm on cooler nights and wicks away sweat when he gets too warm, so he'll never overheat or be too cold. I found that changing diapers was a breeze (even in the middle of the night), with the convenient back flap that allows for easy access and flips over baby's legs to reveal the diaper. No snaps or buttons to worry about - woohoo!!! Our son wears the gown during the day with a onsie underneath, and at night with a Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag, 0-2 years, Oatmeal for added warmth. This is a definite must have item for a newborn baby and I think it would make a perfect gift for new Moms and Dads.
High quality merino wool, adorable design, but a bit thinApr 05, 2012
By muff I have been buying a lot of merino wool products for my baby - guess I was suckered in by all the marketing about how it regulates baby's temperature, doesn't cause baby to overheat like polyester/synthetic materials, etc. Overall I like this gown and it has largely lived up to expectations.
PROS: - Material is high quality (very soft - not scratchy at all). Also supposedly better for temperature regulation etc. - Design is very cute and well thought out (kimono-style neck, and pouch around the legs so you can easily remove for diaper changing)
CONS: - I agree with one of the other reviewers that it is a bit thin. This would be fine for spring/fall and maybe even summer, but in winter just this one layer is not going to be sufficient. In April/March in CA, I dress my baby in a onesie underneath this during the day, but use the Cocooi sleep sack on top at night. - Care instructions are a bit demanding/impractical - it's marked "30C (cold) gentle wool wash / hand wash" and "do not tumble dry." This strikes me as a bit impractical for a baby. I know that my baby poops on it at least every other day that he wears it - The wool smells a bit - a lot when wet (e.g. when being washed and drying), and a little bit even when dry - Putting it on requires pulling over baby's head. This isn't so bad, but the gown is fairly long (supposedly sized for a 3mo old) so it's a fair amount of material to pull over a newborn's head. I'd love to see the manufacturer update the design with side snaps or a zipper down the side
Overall this is a nice gown. I probably would not buy it again though, at least not at full price. I agree that it's a nice item to put on your registry, though, if you're struggling to fill up your list ;)
So cozy, soo cute!Jul 05, 2011
By Osyn My baby absolutely loves this clothing. It's the only baby gown that my child will willingly wear, and my other friends who are expecting keep asking where I bought it. It's easy to clean, and it looks great. The color also looks amazing with my baby's skin.

Great for new Dads!Aug 06, 2009
By Francis Frost My wife and I purchased this gown on Amazon shortly after our daughter was born in June. This is our first baby so we weren't familiar with the benefits of merino, but we've been converted and recommend it to any friends and family members that are having babies. (We even purchased the Merino Kids Cocooi Babywrap Newborn Baby Swaddle, Natural to wrap Lola in at night and sleep time!). I get a lot of comments about the gown when I take Lola out of the house. People love it!
